Study visit pictures

Since arriving on Saturday we have been busy getting our bearings and learning more about the culture and education system in Malaysia (but unanble to load up the huge picture files at present). We have also been lucky enough to visit the Ministry of Education in Putra Jaya, speaking to Dr Lee. He headed the Department for Languages at the Curriculum Development Centre and was fantastic. He was very informative but his PHD was in metaphors so he shared some interesting ideas about what the Malaysian education system compares to. We have today visited our first school Sri KDU, an elite secondary school, which is at the very top end (fee paying) of the malaysian system, so it should prove to be a real contrast to other schools we will be visiting. Anyway I hope you all enjoy these I am trying to put together a Movie Maker slide show for everyone to look at which I will hopefully post soon.
All the best from Malaysia,
Tremaine.

  3. We are hosting two malaysian headteachers this week. They encourage you to get out into the rural areas where there is a very interesting social and ethnic mix. also find out about Islamic College Sultan Alam Shah Kelang.

  4. We are visiting 2 more KL schools today, more along the national type even if they are more urban, then we are off to Seremban this afternoon (After the CCEM teacher's conference). We will be staying overnight in Seremban and this will allow us to get out to visit 2 rural schools tomorrow in Jelebu Negeri Sembilan. Thanks for the advice I will enquire about the Islamic college.

  5. Hi Tremaine, as discussed, please could you find out about as much as possible about rural schools - facilities, resources etc. Also, if there is any provision to educate the mothers in their own language in terms of literacy (reading and writing). Also, when and how is English taught. Many thanks. Jenny
